- 600 g (1.3 lbs) skinless, boneless chicken breast
- 240 ml (1 cup) plain yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 60 ml (¼ cup) lemon juice
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Skewers (metal or soaked wooden)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Stir in cumin, paprika, and turmeric. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Marinate the Chicken: Cut chicken into 2.5 cm (1 inch) pieces. Add chicken to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Prepare Skewers: Soak wooden skewers in water for about 30 minutes if using. After marination, thread chicken pieces onto skewers.
- Grill the Skewers: Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C / 400°F). Cook skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve: Remove from grill and let skewers rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F). Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
