Instructions
- Whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan. Gradually stir in the milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
- Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract.
- Allow the pudding to cool slightly, then layer it with sliced bananas and vanilla wafers in a serving dish.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Top with whipped cream and additional banana slices if desired.
