Description

Tart and sweet pickled red onions drizzled with hot honey create a versatile condiment for tacos, sandwiches, and salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 240 ml (1 cup) apple cider vinegar
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) hot honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly into rings or half-moons.
  2. Prepare the brine by combining vinegar, hot honey, salt, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Combine the onions in a mason jar and pour the hot brine over them.
  4. Cool the jar to room temperature, seal it, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Enjoy the pickled onions as a topping or condiment.

Notes

Let them sit for 4–6 hours for the best flavor; they are best consumed within two weeks.
