Description

A quick and easy bok choy dish cooked with a flavorful ginger chili sauce, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • Bok Choy (500 g or about 2 large heads)
  • Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
  • Fresh Ginger (30 g or 2 tablespoons, minced)
  • Chili Pepper (1, sliced)
  • Soy Sauce (60 ml or ¼ cup)
  • Sesame Oil (15 ml or 1 tablespoon)
  • Sugar (15 g or 1 tablespoon)
  • Sesame Seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bok choy: Rinse thoroughly under running water and slice into bite-sized pieces, keeping the white parts and green leaves separate.
  2. Heat the pan: In a large frying pan or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Sauté garlic and ginger: Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds until aromatic.
  4. Add bok choy: Stir in the white parts first, cooking for 2–3 minutes, then add the green leaves and cook for another minute until wilted.
  5. Mix the sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sliced chili pepper, and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  6. Finish the dish: Pour the sauce over the bok choy and mix well. Cook for another minute until heated through.
  7. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For best texture, do not overcook bok choy. Can prep ingredients a day in advance.
