Description
Whiskey Caramel Bread Pudding: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups of day-old bread, cubed (preferably brioche or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whiskey (bourbon or your choice)
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) for added texture
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, add the cubed bread. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, salt, and whiskey until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold the bread, ensuring it absorbs the custard mixture. Allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the bread mixture and stir gently to combine.
- Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for about 15-20 minutes before serving.
- Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top just before serving.
