An easy and delicious sweet pastry recipe featuring flaky puff pastry filled with a homemade strawberry compote and a creamy cream cheese frosting.

- 1 sheet puff pastry (store bought)
- 1 cup strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4–1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Additional fresh strawberries, sliced
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberry filling by combining 1 cup sliced strawberries, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until jam-like. Let cool completely.
- Cream 8 oz. softened cream cheese with 1/3 cup sugar until smooth and fluffy using an electric mixer.
- Add 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and 1/4-1/2 teaspoon almond extract to the cream cheese mixture and beat until combined. Whip 1/2 cup heavy cream to stiff peaks and gently fold into the cream cheese mixture.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Unfold puff pastry and cut into desired shapes. Spoon cooled strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting onto one half of each pastry piece.
- Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling to create pockets. Press edges to seal and crimp with a fork. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool completely on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
