Description

Tender, fluffy dinner rolls that pull apart easily, ideal for weeknights or holiday tables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 7 g (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 9 g (1 1/2 tsp) salt
  • 240 ml (1 cup) whole milk, warmed
  • 56 g (4 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg (optional)
  • Optional: 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and bloom (if needed) the yeast.
  2. Mix the dough.
  3. Knead to a smooth, slightly tacky dough.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and proof.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Cover loosely and let the shaped rolls rise.
  7. Preheat the oven and prepare for baking.
  8. Remove rolls and immediately brush with melted butter.

Notes

For extra softness, replace some flour with potato starch. Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
