  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 2 cups French onion soup (canned or homemade)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (Swiss or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions. Cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, browned beef, caramelized onions, and French onion soup. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously on top of the casserole.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
