Description

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C), or 160°C if using a fan oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and salt for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and pale.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour until just combined.
  5. Fit a piping bag with an open star tip or round tip and fill it with the dough. Pipe shapes onto the baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until puffed and the surface is no longer wet.
  7. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
