  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and sliced bananas, gently tossing to mix.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and bananas, ensuring all pieces are coated. Gently press down to submerge the bread.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
  5. In the morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Then, bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
