Description
Mixed Berry Bread Pudding is a delicious dessert made with stale bread and mixed berries, topped with a creamy custard and baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups of stale bread, cubed
- 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed stale bread and mixed berries. Toss gently to mix.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread and berries. Gently stir to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
- Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, giving the bread time to soak up the custard.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread mixture and stir gently.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Just before serving, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
Notes
- Use stale bread for better texture.
- Frozen berries work well if fresh are not available.
