Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 410°F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- Combine the beef mixture in a large bowl. Mix ground beef, minced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar.
- Roll into meatballs using 2-3 teaspoons of the mixture for each. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart for even cooking.
- Bake the meatballs for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in red wine (or broth/water), scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Mix in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and brown sugar. Simmer on medium-low heat for 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Transfer baked meatballs into the skillet with the sauce. Gently coat them in the sauce.
- Cover the skillet for a thinner sauce or leave it uncovered for a thicker sauce. Bake at 375°F for 10-15 minutes.
