  • 1 medium Onion, finely minced
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp Chopped parsley (or dried parsley)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced (or garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil (for baking)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil (for sauce)
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced (or garlic powder)
  • 1/2 cup Red wine (optional)
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 410°F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the beef mixture in a large bowl. Mix ground beef, minced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar.
  3. Roll into meatballs using 2-3 teaspoons of the mixture for each. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart for even cooking.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Pour in red wine (or broth/water), scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  8. Mix in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and brown sugar. Simmer on medium-low heat for 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.
  9. Transfer baked meatballs into the skillet with the sauce. Gently coat them in the sauce.
  10. Cover the skillet for a thinner sauce or leave it uncovered for a thicker sauce. Bake at 375°F for 10-15 minutes.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan before serving.
