- 2 lbs russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Optional: Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a glass baking dish.
- Wash and peel the russet potatoes, then slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
- In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Layer one-third of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour one-third of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with one-third of the cheddar cheese. Repeat twice more.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
