Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a glass baking dish.
  2. Wash and peel the russet potatoes, then slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
  3. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Layer one-third of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour one-third of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with one-third of the cheddar cheese. Repeat twice more.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
