Description

Classic Grandma’s Homemade Bread Pudding Served with Creamy Vanilla Sauce Delight


Ingredients

  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (white or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread. If using, stir in the raisins and chopped nuts.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well blended.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  5. Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
  8. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, granulated sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and salt.
  9. Cook while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  10. Remove from heat and keep warm until ready to serve.
