Soft, gooey, and shaped like little ghostly figures, they’re the ultimate kid-friendly dessert — perfect for parties, school snacks, or festive family fun. Made with popcorn, butter, and marshmallows, these sweet ghost treats are easy, fun, and hauntingly delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups popped popcorn (about 1/3 cup unpopped kernels)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- Candy eyeballs
- Mini chocolate chips (optional, for ghost mouths)
- Cooking spray or butter (for greasing hands)
Instructions
- Prepare the Popcorn: Pop popcorn and spread on parchment paper or in a large bowl. Remove unpopped kernels.
- Melt the Marshmallow Mixture: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir continuously until melted and smooth.
- Combine: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Stir with a greased spatula until evenly coated. Cool slightly (2–3 minutes).
- Shape: Grease hands with butter or cooking spray. Shape mixture into oval ghost shapes (about 8 total).
- Decorate: While still tacky, press on candy eyes and mini chocolate chips for mouths.
- Set: Let cool 15–20 minutes before serving or wrapping individually.
Notes
- Don’t overheat marshmallows: Melt on low to medium heat for the perfect gooey texture.
- Shape quickly: Work while the mixture is still warm — it hardens as it cools.
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days.
- Make-Ahead Tip: Wrap individually for parties or school-safe treats.
- Variations: Add sprinkles, dip bottoms in white chocolate, or make mini ghosts!
