Savory Swirled Garlic Herb and Cheese Bread – Perfect for Any Occasion

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour, salt, milk, and olive oil. Stir to form a dough and knead for 8 minutes until smooth.
- Cover dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, basil, thyme, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a rectangle about 12×18 inches.
- Spread the garlic herb butter over the dough and sprinkle cheese on top.
- Roll up the dough tightly and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden and hollow when tapped.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
