  • Condiments of choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo)
  • Toppings like lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles (for added crunch)

Instructions

  1. Place the ground chuck in a medium-sized mixing bowl, then sprinkle with kosher or sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Gently mix to combine.
  2. Split the meat into four equal portions.
  3. Take one portion and press it gently into a 1-inch thick, round patty on a plate.
  4. Using your thumb or fingers, carefully press a ‘moat’ around the circumference of the burger.
  5. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties in the skillet, ensuring space between each one.
  6. Cook the burgers until they’re beautifully seared, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the burgers and cook to your desired level of doneness.
  8. If you’re adding cheese, remove the pan from the heat and place a slice on each burger.
