- 8 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Boil salted water in a large pot, add pasta, and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
- In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil and sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in heavy cream, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Stir in lemon juice, zest, salt, and pepper.
- Toss cooked pasta with the creamy sauce and add reserved pasta water as needed for creaminess.
- Mix in chopped basil and Parmesan cheese until melted. Serve immediately with extra cheese if desired.
