Ingredients

  • 8 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water in a large pot, add pasta, and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil and sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in heavy cream, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Stir in lemon juice, zest, salt, and pepper.
  5. Toss cooked pasta with the creamy sauce and add reserved pasta water as needed for creaminess.
  6. Mix in chopped basil and Parmesan cheese until melted. Serve immediately with extra cheese if desired.
