- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites on medium speed until foamy, about 2 minutes.
- Add cream of tartar to the beaten egg whites and continue whisking until soft peaks are visible.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff, glossy peaks form (8-10 minutes).
- Gently fold in vanilla extract and green food coloring.
- Transfer the meringue to a piping bag and pipe tree shapes.
- Bake for 90 minutes without opening the oven door.
- Turn off the oven, leave the door slightly open, and cool for 30 minutes.
