Description
Chicken Wontons in Spicy Chili Sauce
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Wontons
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 green onions (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon ginger (minced)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Wonton wrappers (about 30)
- For the Spicy Chili Sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons chili paste (adjust for spice preference)
- 1 tablespoon honey (or sugar)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon water (to thin, if necessary)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- Lay out a few wonton wrappers on a clean surface, keeping the remaining covered with a damp cloth.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Moisten the edges with a little water, fold in half to form a triangle, press out air, and pinch edges to seal. Bring the two corners together and pinch to secure. Repeat for remaining wrappers.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully drop in the wontons. Cook 4–5 minutes until they float and are cooked through, or steam for 6–8 minutes. Drain.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Add water if needed to thin.
- Arrange cooked wontons on a serving plate.
- Pour the spicy chili sauce over the wontons or serve on the side.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
