Description

Chicken Wontons in Spicy Chili Sauce

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Wontons
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 green onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wonton wrappers (about 30)
  • For the Spicy Chili Sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon water (to thin, if necessary)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Lay out a few wonton wrappers on a clean surface, keeping the remaining covered with a damp cloth.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper.
  4. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold in half to form a triangle, press out air, and pinch edges to seal. Bring the two corners together and pinch to secure. Repeat for remaining wrappers.
  5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully drop in the wontons. Cook 4–5 minutes until they float and are cooked through, or steam for 6–8 minutes. Drain.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Add water if needed to thin.
  7. Arrange cooked wontons on a serving plate.
  8. Pour the spicy chili sauce over the wontons or serve on the side.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
