A flavorful and aromatic chicken shawarma recipe that’s easy to make at home.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs chicken thighs
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread for serving
- Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce)
Instructions
- Mix the garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat thoroughly.
- Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the chicken thinly and serve in pita bread with fresh vegetables.
Notes
For better flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
