Description

A flavorful and aromatic chicken shawarma recipe that’s easy to make at home.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken thighs
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread for serving
  • Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce)

Instructions

  1. Mix the garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat thoroughly.
  3. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until cooked through.
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. Slice the chicken thinly and serve in pita bread with fresh vegetables.

Notes

For better flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
