Description

Indulge in these luscious Caramel Brownies, combining rich chocolate and gooey caramel for an irresistible dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 11-ounce package caramel candies, unwrapped
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan with non-stick spray or butter, then line it with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the melted butter and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add the light brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Whisk until well blended and silky.
  4. Stir in the all-purpose flour and semi-sweet chocolate chips gently.
  5. Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Heat the sweetened condensed milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat for about 3 minutes.
  7. Melt the unwrapped caramel candies and remaining ½ teaspoon of salt into the warm sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  8. Pour ⅔ of the warm caramel sauce over the brownie batter. Dollop the remaining brownie batter on top.
  9. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, keeping an eye on the timer for desired gooeyness.
  10. Cool in the pan on a wire rack until completely set.
  11. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
  12. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Shorter bake time yields gooier brownies.
  • Longer baking produces a firmer center.
  • Sprinkling flaky sea salt on top enhances flavor.
