  • ½ cup bourbon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the cubed bread in a large bowl and set aside to dry slightly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold in the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  5. If desired, fold in the raisins or dried cranberries.
  6. Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

  9. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, heavy cream, bourbon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and heated through.
