Description
Homemade Bread Pudding: The Incredible Ultimate Recipe You Must Try
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups of stale bread, cubed (French or brioche works best)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of raisins or dried fruit (optional)
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (optional)
- Butter, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, add the cubed stale bread. Set it aside while you prepare the custard.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread, gently folding to ensure all pieces are well-coated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- If using, fold in the raisins and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set (a knife inserted should come out clean).
- Once baked, remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
- Cut into squares and serve warm, drizzled with a sauce or whipped cream if desired.
