Description

This Birthday Cake Cookies recipe inspired by Crumbl combines rich black cocoa, crushed Oreos, and cream cheese buttercream frosting for a decadent treat.


Ingredients

  • 10 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup black cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (dark or light)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cake batter extract (optional)
  • 1/4 stick (2 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • Rainbow sprinkles, as desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Finely crush 10 Oreo cookies. Combine crushed Oreos, flour, cornstarch, black cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a stand mixer until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and cake batter extract (if using) to the butter mixture. Mix until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  6. Portion out 8 equal dough balls and flatten them to about 1 inch thick. Place on the baking sheet and freeze for 15 minutes.
  7. Bake cookies for 11 minutes. Allow cooling on the baking sheet.
  8. Cream together softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Whip until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  9. Finely crush 4 Oreos and mix with 2 tablespoons of cream cheese until combined. Form small pieces from this mixture.
  10. Pipe frosting onto cooled cookies and top with Oreo dough bites and rainbow sprinkles.
