Baked Vidalia Onions: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe


Ingredients

  • 4 large Vidalia onions
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel the Vidalia onions and cut off the top. Hollow out the center using a spoon, leaving about half an inch of the onion intact.
  3. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil into the breadcrumb mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Fill each hollowed-out onion with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to pack it in.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top of the stuffed onions.
  7. Arrange the stuffed onions in a baking dish and drizzle a little more olive oil over them.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to trap steam and ensure even cooking.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the tops are golden and crispy.
  10. Allow the onions to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
